It was a fun filled 3day training program for ND1 students of the School of Business and Management Studies of the Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State. Consequent upon the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant social distancing plus the irregular working conditions of most businesses in the country, the government, who are the owners of this institution of higher learning, decided to ease the troubles and exposure of the students by organizing a practical program that would serve as a work expirience and that would also lead to certification exam for the concerned students.
The facilitator, Mr. Tunde Yemi-Daniel (CEO, Webend Online Marketing Services) a seasoned marketer with extensive exposure to IT, online platforms and software. He has been a proponent of the new paradigm in business operations in the e-Environment. “It is my believe that the new way of doing business is online and any business that refuses to tow this line would soon be lost in the crowd”. He said.
The first day: Mr. Tunde Yemi-daniel did a broad introduction of the topic of eMarketing/eBusiness making note of the difference between traditional and eMarketing and drawing practical examples from his own experience as salesman and a marketing staff. He delved into the components of eMarketing as follows:
- Websites
- Social Media Marketing
- eMail Marketing
- Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Affiliate Marketing
The Second day: The second day saw the facilitator delving deeeper into the basics of online marketing by explaining and demonstrating all the components of Online Marketing. The second day saw the introduction of some important topics such as Web Analytics and Conversion optimization.
The third day: Tagged practical day. The students had their rare privilege of learning how to create a website. Then they actually created websites for their small businesses.
The training was very interactive and fulfilling both for the students and the facilitator who could not hide his joy in knowing that we are giving back to the next generation and empowering them to be self sufficient and employable.
A big thank you to the management of Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade and especially the Dean, HODs and Lecturers in the School of Management and Business Studies SMBS for this wonderful opportunity.
